The Grüner Veltliner Sauberg combines the minerality and structure of the gravel soil with the spice and complexity of the clay soil. Firm but juicy, with a fine veil of spice and an incredible complexity, it presents as almost salty in the glass. Perfect for pairing with Thai or other South-eastern Asian cuisine.
92/100 – The 2022 Grüner Veltliner Ried Sauberg is grown on a well-ventilated plateau of gravel and loam. After hand-harvest and crushing, the grapes receive 24 hours of skin contact and are fermented spontaneously in both 500-liter barrels and stainless steel. Ripe yellow pear, white miso and edges of crushed sage on the nose carry straight through to the palate. There, they spread out against a backdrop of smooth, cooling yeast that is pervaded by salty and slightly textural savoriness. This is smooth, rounded, bone-dry and fresh.
