Produced from a small family estate bordering the Cantabrian Sea in the Basque town of Getaria, this wine is full of all the wonderful zing and refreshment one expects from Txakoli. A spritzy dry white with a citrus tang, this is a cousin of those other great Atlantic wines, Muscadet and Vinho Verde, and is as natural a partner to fried fish as a squeeze of lemon. A true wine of place, it’s distinct salinity and light fruit flavours casts ones mind to the windswept beaches of the Basque Country.
Made from Hondarrabi Zuri (85%) and Gros Manseng (15%), this offers great typicity, with salty sea air on the nose alongside bright lemon and apple. The acidity is mouthwatering and there is an appealing bitter, herbal finish Lightly fizzy in the best traditions of Getaria, this is a great option for summer picnics or an aperitif at any time of year. – Beth Willard, Decanter
